Welcome to Peak Human
Thanks for signing up to learn more about Peak Human, your guide through the never-ending pursuit of a better self. If you don’t know me already, allow me to introduce myself: My name is Gotham Chopra, and I’m a storyteller. I make documentary films about some of the most legendary athletes in the world, like Kobe Bryant, Simone Biles, and Tom Brady. I’ve long been a sports nut, but my favorite part of observing elite athletes is learning how they push themselves to become the best possible version of themselves. Kobe was obsessed with studying the past to glean lessons from figures as disparate as Beethoven and Hilary Swank. Simone courageously battled demons at the Olympics. Tom took as much from losses as he did from victories.
I’ve come to think of people like Kobe, Simone, and Tom as “peak humans,” a group who are constantly blasting past our preconceived notions of what one person can achieve. But athletes aren’t the only people that fit into this group. It can include businesspeople, musicians, leaders, parents, kids—anybody really. And that’s the beautiful thing about the idea of fulfilling your potential: anybody can do it, at any time.
When I was growing up, my father Deepak (a peak human himself) told my sister and me that there are five areas that most affect how fulfilling one’s life is: movement, recovery, fuel, reflection, and relationships. He told us to always work to improve in those five areas, and then he said that no matter how hard we tried, we’d never fully master any of them. We’d go through our lives trying to improve, in whatever small way, and in that journey—that neverending climb—we’d find purpose. At the time, I found the lesson to be endlessly frustrating (I wanted to win!). Over time, though, I’ve come to see just how wise those words had been.
That’s why I was inspired to partner my company, Religion of Sports, with his, Chopra Global, and create Peak Human. Our vision is that Peak Human will be a community of people who are all trying, with humility and curiosity, to improve themselves every day. It will be a hub of knowledge, sharing secrets in each of those five areas that my dad mentioned when I was a kid, and helping you cut through the noise to guide you along your journey. As we continue to grow throughout the year and beyond, it will be the home of podcasts, video series, blog posts, and discussions where we can all help each other towards reaching the best version of ourselves.
We can’t wait to get started, and I’m so excited to have you join us on this journey. You’ll be hearing more very soon. If you’re interested in hearing more or in partnering with us, please send an email to be@peakhuman.com.
Let’s go!
